Design: Designed by the combined talents of Philippe Briand, for performance, and Vittorio Garroni, for elegance, this SUN ODYSSEY 49DS revives the classics with exceptional beauty and performance. This twin personality, common to the Jeanneau Design Department is perfectly illustrated by the Sun Odyssey Deck Salon (DS) line of Jeanneau cruising sailboats. Classic charm and modern efficiency, the Sun Odyssey 49DS stands out without imposing. On the performance side, the keel/ballast ratio improves sailing stability, and the generous sail area keeps the boat moving well under all conditions. This is a well-designed and extremely well-built vessel.
Navigation Electronics: The Raymarine E-120 MFD chartplotters mounted at the helm and at the nav station are integrated with GPS antenna, graphic depth sounder, 24-mile radar scanner, and AIS. Sailing electronics include the Raymarine ST-60 Speed/Depth, Wind Instruments with repeaters for both helms, Auto Pilot and VHF with distress mode and remote command mic at the helm. Even the huge flat-screen TV in the main salon is integrated with the navigation equipment to provide additional display of charts, routes, radar, depth sounder, or AIS signals.
Equipment: The SUN ODYSSEY 49DS comes standard equipped with quality sailing hardware. The twin wheels allow for the maximum ease when at the helm and provide instant response to the helmsman. Of note are the two-speed self-tailing electric winches, the block of stoppers for sail controls led to the cockpit, a genoa furler, a furling mainsail, rooftop electric winch for sail deployment and reefing or furling, an electric windlass, Bow-thruster, step-through transom, plus a swim ladder and a stern shower for refreshing swims off of the stern. You will find the best of everything you need included for your safety and comfort. Three air-conditioning units are installed with digital electronic controls providing cool, heat, dehumidify, and fan-only modes with automatic sensing and thermostat controls. Dodger w/Eisenglass windshield and canvas UV protection cover, and Bimini are custom made for this boat. Sliding venetian port shades and retracting hatch sun covers complement the interior.
Sails: Furling Main, Furling genoa headsail, and Asymmetrical Spinnaker with high quality hardware and top-quality running rigging make the boat a true sailor’s sailboat.
Layout: For intelligent design in a “Deck Salon,” the key words are volume and comfort. The two-cabin layout offers two completely private and luxurious quarters with comfortable berths. The U-shaped dinette to starboard has an upgraded table with drawer stowage and folding extensions. Comfortable arm chairs and a port settee set off this beautifully appointed main salon with all the amenities for comfortable living. Teak and holly sole with solid fiddles and grab rails offer the richness and eye-appeal of this interior. The layout is designed for practical and comfortable cruising, and there is an exceptional use of available space. Each of the cabins has its own hanging lockers and an additional vanity with more storage. In the Main Salon, the Nav Station to port and the L-shaped galley to starboard complete this great cruising and sailing vessel. Both heads include shower, electric marine head, shower sump with pump, vanity with stainless steel sink, and storage. The water storage tanks with control manifold provides pressurized hot and cold water.
Galley: The L-shaped galley includes all the equipment and amenities for comfort. This vessel is equipped with a four-burner propane stove top on a gimbaled oven with vent hood, as well as an in-counter installed microwave oven. The double stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressure water are deep and set well into the solid countertop. The top-loading refrigerator has a front access stainless-steel door and the freezer has super-cold freezing plates.
Engine and Power: The Yanmar 75 hp Diesel engine and the Westerbeke 7.6 kw Genset have minimal hours of use with maximum care and maintenance.
